 14/5 Lể Thánh Matthias Tông Đồ (được chọn thay cho Judas Iscariot)

Trong Bài Tin Mừng hôm nay, Chúa Giêsu nói với các môn đệ rằng Ngài hợp nhất với Chúa Cha hằng hữu trong một liên kết hoàn hảo trong tình yêu, đoàn kết, và niềm vui. Đó là lý do tại sao người Con vui thích trong sự vâng lời Chúa Cha hằng hữu, Đấng đã yêu Chúa Con bằng một tình yêu vô biên. Chúa Giêsu đã hứa ban thưởng cho những ai đã dám hy sinh bỏ lại gia đình và tài sản của họ sau lưng để theo Chúa. Vì là ưu tiên hàng đầu của họ là việc tìm kiếm nước Trời, Chúa thấy tất cả các nhu cầu cần thiết của họ, cả đời này và sự vĩnh cửu đời sau. Chúa Giêsu nói một cách rất tự tin: "Nếu anh em cần bất cứ điều gì, hãy quên chính mình và nghĩ tới thầy và cho phép thầy chăm sóc cho anh em, như thế thì thật là tuyệt vời, Chúng ta, ai cũng đều có được sự ưng thuận thật tốt..!

Chúa Giêsu cũng hứa hẹn rằng những ai ở lại trong tình yêu của Ngài thì sẽ sinh được nhiều hoa trái cho Nước Thiên Chúa; và Hoa Trái đấy được tồn tại đến muôn đời (Gioan 15:16). Nếu chúng ta cố gắng tìm cách để kết hợp tâm hồn của chúng ta hoà với tâm hồn của Chúa Giêsu, chúng ta sẽ mang lại kết quả tuyệt vời trong cuộc sống của chúng ta; kết quả đó là niềm vui, an bình, hạnh phúc, thân mật và tình yêu đó kéo dài mãi mãi. . Hôm nay, trong khi chúng ta thờ phượng Thiên Chúa , chúng ta hãy cầu xin Ngài hướng dẫn chúng ta biết theo gương các thánh tông đồ sống trong đường lối của Ngài để chúng ta có thể luôn có sức mạnh của Ngài trong cuộc sống của chúng ta.

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Matthias, who was chosen by the apostles to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot;

            Matthias leaves the scene as quickly as he enters. He is mentioned in the Scriptures only in this scene from the book of the Act of the Apostles that we heard in the first reading. He is honored in the Church as an apostle; a witness to Jesus’ resurrection and a hero of the faith. By honoring Matthias, we honor all the unnamed heroes and heroines of the Church. We recognize the “women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him” (Matthew 27:55).  

            We honor all the people whose names aren’t even mentioned in the Bible. We don’t know what they did, but we know that they loved the Jesus and laid down their lives for him. And that is well worth celebrating! While we’re praising God for all these hidden saints, let’s also look at today as our feast day.            We’re just ordinary people.  But whoever we are, we too share in the same calling as the apostles: to be a “witness to his resurrection” (Acts 1:22).

            History may not recall our names or our deeds; but God will. He rejoices over every good deed done in his name.

As In today’s Gospel, Jesus promises that those who abide in his love will bear much fruit for the kingdom of God; fruit that will last for eternity as well (John 15:16). If we seek to unite our heart with the heart of Jesus, we will bear great fruit in our life; the fruit of joy, peace, friendship, and love that lasts forever. .   

            As we worship God today, let us ask Him to guide us in His ways so that we may always experience His strength in our life.  So we can go out and share the gospel and love people as God has called us to do.
