Suy Niệm Bài đọc Thứ Sáu, Tuần 14 Thường Niên 

Bài đọc thứ nhất cho chúng ta thấy sự hòa giải của dân Israel với Thiên Chúa. Sau khi Thiên Chúa trừng phạt Israel vì không chung thủy với Ngài, Ngài đã phục hồi họ và cho họ những ân huệ họ để trở lại với Ngài một lần nữa (đây là hình ảnh mà chúng ta đã được nghe trong bài đọc hôm thứ Hai vừa qua trong Sách Tiên tri Hôsê, mà chúng ta nghe nói về người vợ hư đốn của Hôsê đã ăn năn trở về với ông ta..) Đấy là Thiên Chúa, Đấng đã hủy diệt và cũng là Đấng đã dựng lên Israel. Chúng ta cũng vậy, có những lúc trong cuộc sống, chúng ta đã mải mê chạy theo những khát vọng của bản thân và đã không tuân theo lời giáo huấn của Chúa và giáo Hội, cúng ta đã xúc phạm đến Thiên Chúa.

             Giờ đây chúng ta hãy nên quay lại với Ngài để được lãnh nhận ơn cứu chữa. Thiên Chúa là Chúa của yêu thương, mặc dầu chúng ta có phạm bao nhiêu thứ tội, chúng ta xa lánh Chúa, Nhưng Ngài vẫn luôn chờ đón chúng ta và dang đôi bàn tay săn sàng đón ôm chúng ta một khi cúng ta trở về với Ngài. Ngài chữa lành những vết thương, những ung nhọt thối tha trong tâm hồn của chúng ta. Không có tội lỗi nào mà Thiên Chúa không thể xóa bỏ được, nếu chúng ta biết chạy đến với Ngài và khẩn cầu đến lòng thương xót của Ngài với một lòng chân thành.

Lạy Chúa, xin giúp chúa con có can đãm chỗi dậy từ bỏ nếp sống cũ, một nếp sống phản bội, hư đốn và trở về với tình yêu của Chúa  và chỉ biết tôn thờ một Chúa mà thôi.

REFLECTION
The first reading depicts the reconciliation of sinful Israel with God. After God punished Israel for her unfaithfulness, He restores her and gives her His grace to follow Him again. It is God who destroys and who builds up Israel. We, too, after a period of disobeying and offending God, should turn back to Him for healing. Whomever God chastises, He can also heal. There is no sin that God cannot erase if we only ask for His mercy with sincerity.

               The Gospel depicts the persecution of the missionaries and disciples of Jesus. It tells us that if we are true followers of Jesus, we may one day also be persecuted for our faith. But we should not be afraid because God will give us the courage and wisdom to speak the right words in the name of Jesus. Let us lead Christian lives so that, when confronted with challenges, we will, through the grace of the Holy Spirit, have the courage to proclaim our faith in Jesus.
