Suy Niệm Thứ Năm Tuần 7 Phục Sinh

Trong Bữa Tiệc Ly, Chúa Giêsu tôn vinh Chúa Cha và Ngài nói về vinh quang của Ngài, vinh quang thập giá mà Ngài dung để làm thí dụ cho tình yêu tuyệt vời của Ngài đã dành cho chúng ta là những người tội lỗi và sự xoá bỏ việc lên án chúng ta. Một món quà vĩ đại và cao quý nhất mà người con đã có thể dâng lên cho cha mình là sự vâng lời tuyệt đối. Chúa Giêsu đã vâng phục Chúa Cha cho đến chết, và chết trên thập giá trong việc tôn vinh tối hậu. Bản chất của đức tin là sự hiểu biết Thiên Chúa là Cha chúng ta. Qua thập giá, Chúa Giêsu đã giúp tất cả chúng ta có thể nhận ra sự thật, chân lý này. Chúa Giêsu cũng nói về viêc Chúa Cha mang  vinh quang đến cho Chúa Con bằng mầu nhiệm nhập thể và thập giá. Còn bằng chứng nào lớn hơn là bằng chứng tình yêu của Thiên Chúa đối với chúng ta hơn là Thập giá  của Chúa Kitô. Trên thập giá, chúng ta thấy đó là một tình yêu vô điều kiện, tình yêu chần thành và hoàn hảo.

            Chúa Giêsu cầu nguyện với Chúa Cha cho các môn đệ của Ngài, những người mà Ngài sẽ sớm bỏ lại sau khi Ngài sẽ về cùng Chúa Cha. Ngài quan tâm đến các Môn đệ như một người mẹ đã quan tâm đến những người con của mình, là giữ gìn, trông nom, che chở vào bảo vệ cho chúng ta tín được an toàn  bởi vì chúng ta thuộc về Chúa Cha,  và chúng ta, chúng ta cũng phải biết chấp nhận Chúa Giêsu là Chúa của chúng ta. Chúng ta thuộc về Thiên Chúa, vì chúng ta tin vào Chúa Giêsu.

 Thiên Chúa đã quảng đại biết bao, và chúng tôi phải làm sao để sống xứng đáng làm con của Chúa.

REFLECTION
At the Last Supper, Jesus glorifies his Father and speaks of his own glory, the glory of the cross which exemplifies his great love for us sinners and the reversal of our condemnation. The greatest gift a son can give to his father is to be obedient to him. Jesus was obedient to his Father until death, even death on the cross – the ultimate glorification. The essence of our faith is the knowledge that God is our Father. Through the cross, Jesus made it possible for all of us to recognize this truth. Jesus also speaks of the Father bringing glory to the Son through the great mystery of the incarnation and the cross. There is no greater proof of God's love for us than Christ's cross. In the cross we see a love that is unconditional, complete, and perfect.

            Jesus prays to the Father for his disciples that he would soon be leaving behind. He is concerned as a mother for her children, to keep them, to keep us believers, safe and protected because we belong to the Father who, in turn, endorsed us to Jesus. We belong to God because we believe in Jesus. How generous God is. And we are so undeserving.

Thursday 12th May 2016 7th Week of Easter (C)

Paul knew how to get out of trouble. He started a quarrel between two factions of his interrogators, the Pharisees and Sadducees. The Pharisees believed in the resurrection, while the Sadducees did not. Bitter rivalries and disagreements are present in all religions and in all times. They can distract us from the more important things — loving and serving both God and other people. Quarrelling and arguing are not the same as charitable discussion intent on seeking the truth together. No one has the entire truth, each has only a part. All the parts must be joined together.

            The prayer of Jesus for the unity of his followers is often misunderstood. Unity does not mean conformity — there will always be differing opinions and points of view. He was praying that his followers have the same relationship with one another and with God that he enjoyed with God the Father. Jesus lived in the Father and the Father in him; he prayed that his followers open their hearts and minds so that he and the Father could dwell in them. Jesus wants us to experience God in the same way that he did — and in this lifetime. We do not have to wait until we die. But we do have to live in Jesus and in love constantly. He was not calling for a religion separate from everyday life but a continuous way of life grounded in love and the spirit. Let us strive for unity and communion with one another and with God.
