 Suy Niệm Tin Mừng thứ Năm Thuần 16 Thường Niên

Qua bài Tin Mừng Chúa Giêsu nói: “Ai có, sẽ được cho nhiều hơn và người ấy sẽ trở nên giàu có hơn; Và bất cứ ai không có, ngay cả những gì anh ta đang có cũng sẽ bị lấy đi.” Chúng ta có thấy được sự công bằng ở đây không? Có lẽ với suy nghĩ của con người như chúng ta, thì thật sự không thể có sự công bằng ở đây mà chúng ta chỉ thấy có sự thiên vị.

Thế thì tại sao Chúa Giêsu lại hứa sẽ ban nhiều hơn cho những ai đã có nhiều , và sẽ lấy đi ở nơi những người không có? Đây chính là điều đã đưa chúng ta vào trung tâm mầu nhiệm của ân sủng, và mầu nhiệm Nước Thiên đàng! Trước hết, chúng ta thấy rằng Chúa Giêsu dùng dụ ngôn để nói với đám đông nhưng Ngài lại nói trực tiếp với các môn đồ của Ngài một cách rõ ràng. . Chúa Giêsu cho biết sở dĩ có điều này là vì “sự hiểu biết về những điều bí ẩn của Nước Trời đã được ban cho các môn đệ, còn đám đông dân chúng thì không”.

Nói một cách dễ hiểu ở đây, điều Chúa Giêsu đang nói là nghĩa là có những người biết sẵn sàng cởi mở tâm hồn để đón nhận chân lý, sự thật và có những người không sẵn sàng, không cởi mở thì tâm hồn của họ đóng kín do đó Ngài phải dùng các dụ ngôn. Đây cũng phải là mục tiêu của chúng ta. Chúng ta phải tìm cách trở thành những người có được sự sẵn sàng cởi mở tâm hồn trước chân lý và sự thật. Chúng ta phải tìm cách hiểu tất cả những gì Chúa Giêsu nói và hết lòng tin vào điều đó. Trên thực tế, một khi chúng ta bắt đầu tin và sau đó sống theo những gì chúng ta tin tưởng, chúng ta sẽ bắt đầu một cuộc hành trình tuyệt vời của niềm tin và sự hiểu biết. Đây cũng là ý nghĩa câu nói của Chúa Giêsu: “Ai đã có thì được cho thêm, và sẽ có dư thừa; còn ai không có, thì ngay cái đang có, cũng sẽ bị lấy mất”.Cuộc sống là vậy, một khi chúng ta bắt đầu chấp nhận tất cả những gì là sự thật và sau đó cho phép nó biến đổi cuộc sống của mình, chúng ta sẽ được ban cho nhiều hơn những gì chúng ta tưởng tượng; và ngược lại, khi chúng ta không chịu lắng nghe và thấu hiểu, thì ngay cả niềm tin và sự hiểu biết ít ỏi chúng ta có cũng sẽ dần mất đi. Hãy suy ngẫm về việc chúng ta cởi mở với Lời Chúa và tất cả những gì Chúa muốn nói với chúng ta như thế nào! Tìm cách lắng nghe và thấu hiểu. Nếu làm được điều này, chúng ta sẽ khám phá ra rằng, có một cuộc sống vinh quang và ân sủng đang chờ đợi để tặng ban tràn đầy trên chúng ta.\\

 

July 21, 2022 - Thursday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time

As we hear Jesus said in the Gospel reading. To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. Why would Jesus promise more to those who have more, and will takes away from those who have not?  This goes to the heart of the mystery of grace, and the mystery of the Kingdom of Heaven!

First of all, we see that Jesus spoke in parables to the crowds but spoke clearly and directly to His disciples.  Jesus explains that this is “Because knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted.”  So, for that reason, Jesus speaks in parable when speaking to the big crowds. What Jesus is saying is that some people are simply more open to the truth than others.  When someone is not open, Jesus is limited and, thus, He must speak in parables. 

One goal of a parable is to get someone thinking.  It’s a way of drawing them in so that they can engage their minds with the Word that was spoken.  When someone is open to the Truth, such as the disciples, Jesus is able to open their hearts and speak clearly, deeply and beautiful about the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven.

This must be our goal.  We must seek to be those disciples of Jesus. We must seek to understand all Jesus speaks and believe it wholeheartedly.  In fact, once we do begin to believe and, subsequently, live what we come to believe, we will begin a wonderful journey of faith and understanding that we never knew existed before. This is what Jesus means when He says, “to anyone who has, more will be given.”  The life of grace is such that, once we begin to accept all that is true and then allow it to transform our lives, we will be given exponentially more than we ever imagined.  And, on the flip side, when we refuse to listen and understand, even the little faith

and understanding we have will slowly slip away into confusion. Let us reflect today on how open we are to the Word of God and all that God wants to say to us. Let’s seek to listen and understand. If we do this, we will discover that there is a glorious life of grace just waiting to be given generously upon us in full force.

Hôm nay, chúng ta tự hỏi: có phải những lời dụ ngôn của Chúa Giêsu hôm nay cũng đã dành cho chúng ta? Sự viên mãn của thời gian được mang tới với Chúa Giêsu, và chúng ta cũng tìm thấy mình trong sự viên mãn này; chúng ta đã ở trong khung thời gian của Chúa Kitô, trong thời gian của sự cứu rỗi ...

Chắc chắn, chúng ta đã không nhìn thấy Chúa Giêsu với đôi mắt thường của chúng ta qua những Ánh Lửa, trong Sấm Set1 như ông Môisen, nhưng chúng ta đã thực sự biết Ngài. Chúng ta biết Ngài dù Chúng ta đã không nghe tiếng của Ngài bằng với đôi tai của riêng của chúng ta như ông Môisen, nhưng chúng ta đã chắc chắn là đã nghe tiếng của Ngài. "Lạy Chúa Giêsu, niềm tin trong lời của Chúa là cách đến với sự khôn ngoan, và để suy ngẫm về những hoạch định thiêng liêng của Thiên Chúa là để phát triển chân lý trong sự thật. Xin Chúa mở mắt của chúng con để thấy những việc làm của Chúa, và xin mở tai chúng con để chúng con nghe nhận được tiếng gọi của Chúa, để chúng con có thể hiểu được ý định của Chúa muốn cho cuộc sống của chúng con và giúp chung con sống theo ý Chúa. "

The parables of Jesus

Today, we wonder: can Jesus' words be also intended for us? The fullness of time is brought with him, and we find ourselves in this fullness; we are already in Christ's time, in Salvation's time...

Certainly, we have not seen Jesus with our own eyes, but we have, indeed, known Him. We do know Him. We have not heard his voice with our own ears, but we have definitely heard his words. We do hear them. The knowledge our faith gives us, even though not perceptible, is a true knowledge, which brings us near the truth making us, therefore, feel happy and jubilant. Let us not look at Jesus from today to yesterday, but from today to today; let us actually share his time, a never-ending time.

Jesus, the prayer and the Eucharist assure us this nearness to You, and make us really happy while looking at You with the eyes and ears of our faith.

Thurday 16th Week in Ordinary Time 2022

Opening Prayer: Lord, thank you for the clear teaching of your Church, and thank you for your parables. You give me the parables to reflect on my life and how I am responding to your truth. In this time of prayer, Lord, please open my mind and heart to know and follow you more closely so that I may obtain the joy of eternal life in Heaven with you.

Encountering Christ:

1. But Why?: The disciples wanted to know why Jesus had begun speaking to the crowds in parables rather than clearly and specifically. The crowds didn’t want to see, hear, or understand Jesus. They were entrenched in their ways of thinking and not open to Jesus’ teaching. Openness would require the willingness to change, and they had closed their eyes and ears “lest they see…and hear…and understand…and be converted and (healed).” According to the Catechism, “Through his parables (Jesus) invites people to the feast of the Kingdom, but he also asks for a radical choice: to gain the Kingdom, one must give everything” (CCC 546). May we never be thwarted from listening and embracing the teachings of Christ because of the cost.

2. The Back Door: When you go to someone’s back door, it is usually because you know them well and feel comfortable with them. The front door is a little more formal. Offering parables is a little bit like going to the back door. Rather than presenting a clear statement that may immediately elicit resistance (like a door being shut in your face), a parable invites the listener into the mystery of Christ’s Kingdom through very ordinary examples. Then, hopefully, as one works to understand the parable, one is moved by its deep truth. This is a lesson for us as we consider how we evangelize. We are called to remain open to those who are unwilling to consider the faith we share. We are asked to accompany them in their faith journey over time. We will be most effective if we can meet them where they are instead of focusing on what we want to tell them.

3. Blessed: Jesus told his disciples they were blessed—that many longed to see and hear what they were privileged to see and hear. They were given knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. We are likewise blessed. As Catholics, we have been given the deposit of faith in sacred tradition and Sacred Scripture, and we are called to share the truth joyfully. St. John Paul II said, “The Second Vatican Ecumenical Council…had as its intention and purpose to highlight the Church's apostolic and pastoral mission, and by making the truth of the Gospel shine forth, to lead all people to seek and receive Christ's love which surpasses all knowledge (cf. Ephesians 3:19)” (intro to Fidei Depositum, on the publication of the Catechism). He pointed out that the Council “was to guard and present better” the deposit of faith, “to make it more accessible to the Christian faithful and all people of good will. For this reason, the Council was not first of all to condemn the errors of the time, but above all to strive calmly to show the strength and beauty of the doctrine of the faith.”

Conversing with Christ: Oh my Jesus, you want all of me and are so patient yet persistent in calling me to that total surrender. While I am a work in progress, you still trust me to share in your mission of reaching the world with the Good News of your salvation and redemption. Lord, grant me the grace of evangelizing as you did. I ask that you give me a loving, patient heart and the desire to help others encounter you.

Resolution: Lord, today, by your grace, I will have a conversation with someone about Jesus or the teaching of the Church, and in that conversation, I will strive to listen deeply and focus on the other person’s thoughts before speaking.
