 Suy Niệm thứ Hai 32 Thường Niên
Những động lực nào đang thúc đẩy trong cuộc sống của chúng ta? Trong bài Tin Mừng hôm nay Chúa Giêsu nóí với chúng ta vể hai động lực hiện đang hoạt động trong cuộc sống của chúng ta;
- Sức mạnh của sự cám dỗ và tội lỗi và sức mạnh của đức tin để vượt qua những trở ngại, khó khăn của sự cám dỗ và sức chịu đựng để được sống trong sự yêu mến Thiên Chúa và tha nhân. Kinh Thánh cảnh báo chúng ta về những cạm bẫy hoặc dụ dỗ để đi lạc lối và làm điều ác. Hãy ráng giữ cho chúng tai khỏi cái bẫy mà chúng đã đặt cho chúng ta, và từ những cạm bẫy của những kẻ gian ác! (Thi Thiên 141:9)
Ai yêu thương anh em mình,thì lại ở trong ánh sáng,và nơi người ấy không có gì nên cớ vấp phạm.(1 Gioan 2:10). Chúa Giêsu cảnh báo các môn đệ của Ngài về trách nhiệm to lớn mà họ phải cẩn thận ngăn ngừa đó là không thể thiết lập những sự trở ngại, ngăn cản những người khá c trên đường đến với Chúa Thạt vậy, chúng ta không thể hiện những hành vi phạm tội hoặc làm gương mù gương xấu mà có thể dẫn người khác phạm tội. Đặc biệt những người trẻ còn non trẻ trong đức tin dễ bị các gương xấu của những người mang về đức tin.
Trong khi Chúa Giêsu cảnh báo chống lại các nguy cơ cho gương xấu và gây ra vụ bê bối, Ngài cũng thể hiện sức mạnh của đức tin để vượt qua những trở ngại và cám dỗ phạm tội. Chúa Giêsu đã có nghĩa là gì khi ông nói rằng đức tin của chúng ta có thể di chuyển cây và núi cũng (xem Matthew17: 20, Mác 11:23)? Thuật ngữ "loại bỏ núi" đã được sử dụng cho một người có thể giải quyết những vấn đề lớn và khó khăn. Chúng ta không thường xuyên gặp phải những thách thức và khó khăn mà dường như vượt quá khả năng của mình để xử lý? Những gì xuất hiện không thể để sức mạnh của con người là có thể những người tin vào quyền năng Thiên Chúa.
Đức tin là một món quà miễn phí do Thiên Chúa ban để giúp chúng ta biết Đức Chúa Trời cách cá nhân, hiểu được sự thật của mình, và sống trong sức mạnh của tình yêu của mình. Chúa mong muốn hơn từ chúng tôi hơn là chúng ta có thể chỉ cần làm của chúng ta. Đó là lý do tại sao Chúa Giêsu ban cho chúng ta món quà và sức mạnh của Chúa Thánh Thần giúp chúng ta phát triển mạnh mẽ trong đức tin, kiên trì trong niềm hy vọng, và tăng sức chịu đựng trong tình yêu. Đức tin vào Thiên Chúa là chìa khóa để loại bỏ những trở ngại và khó khăn mà giữ chúng ta khỏi làm theo ý muốn của mình. Chúng ta thuộc về Thiên Chúa và cuộc sống của chúng tôi là của chúng ta không còn. Niềm vui và vinh dự của chúng tôi là theo Chúa Giê-su và để phục vụ trong sức mạnh của tình yêu và lòng tốt của mình. Chúa Giê-su là luôn luôn sẵn sàng làm việc trong và qua chúng ta cho vinh quang của Ngài. Cho đức tin của chúng ta có hiệu quả nó phải được liên kết với sự tin tưởng và với sự tuân phục - một trình hoạt động với Thiên Chúa và sẵn sàng làm bất cứ điều gì ông lệnh. Bạn có tin tưởng vào ân sủng và sức mạnh mà Thiên Chúa tự do cho để giúp chúng tôi chống lại sự cám dỗ và để vượt qua những trở ngại trong làm theo ý muốn của mình?

Meditation:
What's the driving force in your life? Jesus speaks of two forces at work in our lives - the power of the temptation to sin and cause harm and the power of faith to overcome obstacles and difficulties that stand in the way of loving God and our neighbor. The Greek word for temptation (scandalon) is the same as the English word scandal. The original meaning of scandal is a trap or a stumbling block which causes one to trip and fall. The Scriptures warn us about the snare or enticement to go astray and to do what is evil. "Keep me from the trap which they have laid for me, and from the snares of evildoers!" (Psalm 141:9) "Whoever loves a brother or sister lives in the light, and in such a person there is no cause for stumbling" (1 John 2:10).
Jesus commands us to not give bad example or lead others into sin
The Jews held that it was an unforgivable sin to teach another to sin. If we teach another to sin, he or she in turn may teach still another, until a train of sin is set in motion with no foreseeable end. Jesus warns his disciples of the terrible responsibility that they must set no stumbling block in the way of another, that is, not give offense or bad example that might lead another to sin. The young in faith are especially vulnerable to the bad example of those who should be passing on the faith.
The power of faith for overcoming obstacles
While Jesus warns against the danger of giving bad example and causing scandal, he also demonstrates the power of faith for overcoming obstacles and temptation to sin and wrongdoing. What did Jesus mean when he said that our faith can move trees and mountains as well (see Matthew 17:20; Mark 11:23)? The term "mountain remover" was used for someone who could solve great problems and difficulties.
The Holy Spirit helps us to grow in faith and to rely on God's strength
Don't we often encounter challenges and difficulties which seem beyond our power or strength to handle? What appears impossible to human power is possible to those who believe in God's power. Paul the Apostle reminds us, "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). Do you trust in God's help and rely on his strength when you are put to the test or led into temptation?
Faith is a gift freely given by God to help us know God personally, to understand his truth clearly, and to live in the power of his love and mercy freely. God calls us to be like him - holy, loving and wise. God expects more from us than we can simply do by ourselves. That is why the Lord Jesus unites us to himself through the gift of faith so that we may live in the power of his love through the gift of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us (Romans 5:5). The Lord gives us the strength of the Holy Spirit who helps us to grow strong in faith, persevere in hope, and endure in love.
Faith is the key that unlocks God's power in our lives
Faith in God is the key for removing obstacles and difficulties which keep us from doing his will. We belong to God and our lives are no longer our own. Our joy and privilege is to follow the Lord Jesus and to serve in the power of his love, truth, and goodness. The Lord Jesus is ever ready to work in and through us for his glory. For our faith to be effective it must be linked with trust and with obedience - an active submission to God and a willingness to do whatever he commands. Do you trust in the grace and strength which God freely gives to help you resist temptation and to overcome obstacles in doing his will?
Lord Jesus, you give us victory over the destructive forces of sin and harmful desires that keep us from doing your will. Give me the strength to always choose what is good and to reject what is wrong. May your love and truth rule my heart that I may give good example to others and guide those who need your wise instruction and help.

Meditation: Luke 17:1-6 

 If you have faith the size of a mustard seed … (Luke 17:6)
Most people have some idea of what a lever is—a long stick or a rod used to help pry or move something heavy. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks were the first to discover that by exerting only a small force at one end of a lever, they could move a large object at the other end. But in order to lift an object, the lever requires an immovable point to pivot upon—a fulcrum. To use an extreme example, think of the words of the Greek philosopher Archimedes: “Had we a place to stand upon, we could even raise the earth.” This image of the lever can help us understand what Jesus says about faith in today’s Gospel reading. Jesus tells his disciples that a small force—“faith the size of a mustard seed”—is enough to move a mulberry tree. Now, mulberry trees have very deep roots and can grow quite large, which makes them hard to uproot. But Jesus tells us that the “lever” of our faith doesn’t have to be large at all; it just has to rest on something firm. And that firm rock is Jesus!
Many people read this passage and conclude that if only their faith were stronger, they would be able to do anything they wanted. All the “mulberry trees” in their lives would literally fly into the sea if they just had more faith. But that is missing the fact that our faith is just the lever. We need to be founded firmly on Jesus and his wisdom, his will, and his plan. It’s no use trying to “believe” our way into something that God doesn’t want for us!
The key, as in all things, is to stay connected to the Lord. Then we can move all the things that need to be moved in our lives. Are you struggling with a sin pattern? You can move it as you are rooted in Christ. Are you facing a new opportunity for evangelization or service but aren’t sure you can meet the challenge? With Jesus as your “fulcrum,” you can. Always remember: his love and power are bigger than any “mulberry tree” in the world!
“Lord, I believe that I can do all things through you. Teach me to surrender to your will, even as I trust in your mighty power!”

Monday after 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus tells us that ‘scandals, ‘obstacles’, ‘sin’, ‘temptations’, are bound to happen to us, all the time! But, WE are not to scandalize others; nor cause anyone to fall into sin, or turn them away from their faith! Such behavior on our part would deserve the greatest punishment possible! Like drowning in the deepest depths with a millstone round our neck!
We see much sick religion and manipulative use of religion by toxic people! Jesus calls us today not to take things lying down...rather reprove the brother or sister who is offensive but be ready to forgive the moment he/she is sorry. Forgiveness is the heart of the Gospel message!, Even with all the best intentions in the world, given our different temperamental backgrounds, and the way we process our data information we are going to step on one another’s toes! Good people hurt one another all the time! The only healing is “forgiveness”, not excommunicating sinners to a never-land!, Saints struggled all their lives, to remain faithful to God. The Bible presents great men: Moses and Paul, who were known murderers once!
The Spirit that is at work in the Saints is also in us transforming us, if we only believe! Faith has the power to achieve for us what seems impossible: to FORGIVE!
