Suy Niệm Tin Mừng Thứ Hai Tuần Thánh

Chúa Giêsu có những người bạn rất thân cận, và Ngài thích dành thời gian rãnh rỗi với họ và nhất là những thời gian cần được nghĩ ngơi trong nhà của họ. Sáu ngày trước lễ Vượt Qua Chúa Giêsu đã đến thăm họ một lần nữa Ngài ở lại và ăn bữa tối với họ. Đột nhiên, Maria chị của Lazarô đã mang một cân thuốc thơm rất mắc tiền và  xức chân Ngài. Có lẽ đây là một việc hơi quá đáng?

Chúa Giêsu biết rằng sứ mệnh của Ngài sớm sẽ được hoàn tất. Ngài sẽ bị đau khổ và bị giết trên thập giá. Tuy nhiên, Ngài vẫn cho phép Maria phung phí bình nước thơm mắc tiền này. Có lẽ Ngái muốn cho tất cả chúng ta biết rằng thân xác của Ngài còn có giá trị lớn nữa và rất xứng đáng để được xức loại dầu tốt nhất . Có lẽ , Chúa Giêsu lúc đó đã dự đoán vế phép Thánh Thể, và  Thân mình của Chúa, sẽ được dâng hiến cho chúng ta . Ngài bác bỏ đề nghị của Judas Iscariot , người mà đề nghị đem bán dầu thơm đó  đểlấy tièn giúp cho những người khốn khó. Judas, chỉ vì ham tiền nên chắc chắn không thể hiểu được Chúa Giêsu và sứ mệnh của Ngài.

Trong lời cầu nguyện chúng ta có thể phản ánh về thái độ của chúng ta đối với Mình và Máu Thánh Chúa Kitô. Và suy niệm tình yêu của Chúa đã dành cho Maria và Ngài để để Maria xức dầu thơm trên Chân và tôn kính Ngài trọng đại như thế?

Lạy Chúa Giêsu, xin ban cho chúng con sự hiểu biết nhiều hơn và sâu sắc hơn về mầu nhiệm Thánh Thể Chúa.

There is one thing we have to say very clearly: Jesus had very close friends. He liked to spend time with them and take a rest in their home. Six days before the Passover Jesus visited them once again and ate a dinner with them. Suddenly, Mary brought a pound of very costly ointment and started anointing his feet. Isn't that a little bit too much?

Jesus was aware that his mission was soon to be fulfilled. He will suffer and die on the Cross. However he still allows her to waste this expensive ointment. Perhaps he wants to tell us that his Body is of great value and worthy to be treated with the best oils. Perhaps, Jesus at that time has anticipated the Eucharist — his Body, which will be given up for us. He ignored a suggestion of Judas Iscariot, who would rather prefer to sell the ointment and then give the money to the poor. He certainly did not understand Jesus and his mission.

During the prayer you may reflect on your attitude towards the Body and Blood of Christ. Why did Jesus allow Mary to treat his Body with such respect?

Lord Jesus, grant us a better and deeper understanding of the mystery of the Eucharist.
