Reflection Dec 31,
As we come to the end of another year, we need to hear John's message about Jesus the Word bringing light into the darkness of our world. We have seen much darkness in recent days and we fear that there may be even greater darkness ahead. But the Word is “a light that shines in the dark, a light that darkness cannot overpower”. As the first reading reminds us “several antichrists have already appeared.” These are all the agents of greed and corruption, agents of injustice and exploitation.
These are not just faraway threats. They have always been with us and each one of us is tainted with them. But, through our baptism and our incorporation into Christ, we have been endowed with the grace and truth that come to us through Him. We are called, like John the Baptist, to be witnesses of light bringing hope and confidence among those who live in fear and darkness. As John tells us elsewhere, true love casts out all our fear. Father, help us to share fully in the life of Jesus our Lord, for through Him, comes the salvation that all are searching for.

REFLECTION
Three hundred and sixty-six days this year, Jesus offered himself to us in the Eucharist. The Word became flesh and he made himself lovingly available in case we wanted him. To us, who are "His own, He came."
On this last day of the year, let us take out all the garbage of all the years. Let us finish any unfinished business. Let us repent and confess all our sins. Let us forgive all who have sinned against us. Let us be reconciled with those who have something against us. Let us answer every calling from God. Let us not wait till next year to accept the graces of this year.
We don't want the baggage of past years to make it more difficult for us to meet the challenges of next year. When Jesus died, He said: "It is finished." Jesus gave glory to the Father by finishing the work the Father gave him to do. Paul prayed: "I put no value on my life if only I can finish my race and complete the service to which I have been assigned by the Lord Jesus." The Lord finishes what He starts. Let Him finish up the year today with His peace reigning in our hearts.

Opening Prayer:
Holy Spirit, open my eyes to recognize the light that Jesus brings with his incarnation. Prepare my heart to contemplate the central mystery of my faith with greater love and gratitude today.

Encountering Christ:
1. The Greatest Mystery: St. John started his Gospel account by drawing us into the meaning of the mystery of the Incarnation. Let us pause and contemplate with awe and adoration. Who is this Jesus, this baby who was just born in Bethlehem? He is the light that existed from the beginning, the Word God spoke as he said, “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3). He is the coeternal life that gives life to everything that exists. He is the fullness of glory, and does not depend on any creature. And after sin came into the world, his eternal love and mercy did not want humanity to dwell in darkness. In the greatest act of love ever told, he took on human nature and “made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14). He came to give us the gift of being God’s sons and daughters, the gift of grace. He came to reveal the Father. What an amazing mystery of love.
2. The Gift of a Father: The Gospel passage mentions that God gave those who accepted Jesus as the light “the power to become children of God” (John 1:12). Jesus came to reveal that God wants us to be his adopted sons and daughters, born not only from natural generation, but by God’s choice. We receive this gift at our baptism, and we strengthen it through the sacraments and a life of prayer. How many times do we walk through life as orphans, allowing the lies of the enemy to make us believe that we are alone, that there is no one to guide us, that everything is up to us? As we contemplate the love of God in the incarnation, let us stop and remember God’s presence as a Father and turn to him with the confidence of the children of God, as Jesus taught us.
3. Accepting the Gift: As he was describing the gift of the Word of God made man out of love for us, St. John the Evangelist also mentioned that “the world did not know him” and “his own people did not accept him” (John 1:11). We know that God created us free, and we are free to accept his gift or to reject it. There are many times in our lives when we reject the gift Jesus has come to give us, and we opt to put other things before God. We believe in those moments that happiness will come from material things: money, power, fame, worldly pleasures, or comfort. We doubt that we can trust God with our happiness, and we try to secure it ourselves. Can we decide today to accept the gift of peace that surpassses all understanding which Jesus came to bring us through his incarnation this Christmas?

Conversing with Christ
Lord Jesus, thank you for revealing the Father to us. Thank you for the gift of grace and peace you brought through your incarnation. Thank you for becoming a man like us to show us the way. I want to accept your gifts in my life.

Resolution: Lord, today by your grace I want to strengthen my spiritual life by making a good examination of conscience and preparing myself to go to confession during this Christmas season.

Suy Niệm bài đọc thứ Tư, ngày thứ 6 trong mùa Bát Nhật Giáng Sinh. Dec 30

Suy Niệm bài đọc thứ Tư, ngày thứ 6 trong mùa Bát Nhật Giáng Sinh. Dec 30

REFLECTION 1st Reading
The soul has three enemies – the flesh, the world and Satan. St. John, in the first reading defines flesh as the sensual body, when we are governed by unrestrained desires, passions or sensual appetites, we become slaves to sex, food, drinks, drugs and even violence. The world has a lot to offer us like money, prestige, honor, adulation, etc. It presents to us a life of happiness based on these seductions. Our identity then comes from what we possess and not anymore from being children of God. St. John tells us not to love this passing world or anything in it because they are all coming to an end. "But the one who does the will of God remains forever." Death is inevitable, we will all depart from this world naked. So we must have proper discernment of what is good and evil for us or we can easily fall into the deception of Satan who is also called the "angel of light," the father of deceit. He always tries to lead us to love fleshly pleasures and succumb to the allurements of the world. And when we are swallowed up by these, he takes away hope and leads us to sadness and despair. When life has no meaning, suicide becomes a possibility. To be able to resist we must put on God's armor – truth as our belt, integrity for a breastplate, the eagerness to spread the gospel as our footwear, our helmet is the salvation of God and the Word of God is our sword. Why do we need these weapons? Because a new year is coming. We will end the year with fireworks and revelry. Then when all the fun is over, we must go back to reality – work, studies, bills to pay, a family to support, etc. We will need spiritual weapons to fight the enemies of the soul.

Opening Prayer:
Lord, I believe in your presence. I believe I can encounter you during this time of prayer. I believe in your promises. Increase my faith.

Encountering Christ:
1. What the Lord Had Promised: Simeon, like other Israelites, lived with the hope of the fulfillment of God’s promises to his people. He was “awaiting the consolation of Israel” (Luke 2:25), the Messiah that would come and save humanity from sin and death. Scripture is full of God’s promises. “I will be with you always” (Matthew 28:20). “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3). “I will come back” (John 14:3). “You will have a treasure in heaven” (Luke 18:22). “You will inherit the Earth” (Matthew 5:5). “Where I am you will also be” (John 14:3). What has God promised you? Which promises most speak to you during this Christmas season?
2. Faith through Waiting: In this passage, we see the moment when Simeon encountered Jesus, when he saw the promise that he had awaited fulfilled. But how many days and nights had he shown up at the temple, waiting with no sign. When we read stories too quickly we can forget the struggle that occurred before the happy ending. We might be in a time of expectation, in a waiting period, tempted to darkness and doubt. In these moments, we battle against hopelessness, against the lies that suggest we’ve been abandoned or deceived. This is the perfect opportunity to exercise our faith, to stand strong in the certain knowledge that the Lord is always faithful, and that his timing is perfect.
3. My Eyes Have Seen Your Salvation: There was nothing out of the ordinary that morning in Jerusalem when a young father and mother brought their newborn to be presented in the Temple. Every family did so. But the Gospel tells us that Simeon was able to recognize Jesus as the Messiah, the light for the nations. What a life of prayer and silence Simeon must have had! In order to see God’s promises fulfilled in our lives we need special eyes of faith. We need to be in touch with the Holy Spirit. We need to notice his subtle movements in our heart. Praying every day enables us to notice God’s hand at work in our day. Our Lord is constantly showering graces upon us, and prayer helps us be ever more attentive to his endless blessings in our life.
Conversing with Christ:
Holy Spirit, I want to hear you. I want the disposition of my heart to be such that I notice your presence in my life every day. Help me to appreciate your faithfulness throughout my day, and if I must wait for an answered prayer, help me to wait with confidence.
Resolution: Lord, today by your grace I will reflect on all those times you have shown your presence in my life and I will thank you for your fidelity. I will renew my hope in your promises.

REFLECTION December 29, 2017
If we try to imagine the picture of today’s gospel, we may see the temple area teemed with people. It was something like a marketplace. Jesus, Mary and Joseph came into the Temple area and immediately were lost in the milling crowds. An ordinary poor couple with a very young baby: there was really nothing worth noticing.
There were priests and Pharisees among the crowd, rubbing shoulders with the little family, yet not a single one of these religious elite of God's own people had any idea this child was "a light to enlighten the pagans and the glory of [God's] people Israel." It seems very strange that though every Jew was eagerly waiting and yearning for the Messiah to come, no one, not even the religious leaders, recognized him. No one, that is, other than the old man, Simeon, and the old widow, Anna. God had told Simeon that he would live until his eyes beheld the Messiah. He was a devout and pious man and the Holy Spirit was on him, Luke says. Undoubtedly the Spirit inspired Simeon to look at the earthly reality and see God at work in it. Simeon saw in Jesus the fulfillment of the messianic promises. He saw much more besides; he recognized that Jesus' task embraced the salvation not only of the Jewish people, but of the whole human race.
Let us ask the Spirit to teach us how to look into our daily experiences and find the task God intends us to fulfill in his plan for the salvation of all humankind.

The Fifth Day in the Octave of Christmas
Today’s Gospel tells the story of the presentation of Jesus in the Temple. The Temple was, in practically a literal sense, the dwelling place of the Lord. In the Temple, divinity and humanity embraced, and the human race was brought back online with God.
But the sins of the nation had, according to the prophet Ezekiel, caused the glory of the Lord to depart from the Temple. Therefore, one of the deepest aspirations of Israel’s people was to reestablish the Temple as the place of right praise so that the glory of the Lord might return. When Joseph and Mary bring the infant Jesus into the Temple, therefore, we are meant to appreciate that the prophecy of Ezekiel is being fulfilled. The glory of Yahweh is returning to his favorite dwelling. And this is precisely what Simeon sees.
The old seer is a symbol of ancient Israel, watching and waiting for the coming of the Messiah. Simeon knew all of the old prophecies; he embodied the expectation of the nation; and the Holy Spirit had given him the revelation that he would not die until he had laid eyes on his Savior.

REFLECTION December 29
John was adamant: to believe in Jesus and to know him is to walk as he walked and that means loving as he loved. Love is not an abstraction or an idea but a way of life. The only way we express love for God is by loving our brothers and sisters. If we claim to walk in light and love but fail to love those around us, then we are living a lie. Our daily interactions with others and the attitudes we have towards them are a test and an indicator of the quality and depth of our faith and our love for God.
Love and faith sustained Simeon and led him to encounter the infant Jesus in the temple. He felt that his life was complete — he could now go in peace. God was in control! But there was a warning — Jesus embodied perfect love, but this is threatening for many people, especially those who walk in darkness and selfishness. His presence would stir up a lot of trouble; many would stumble and fall. Love has a way of laying bare what lies within people. In their encounters with Jesus, the true inner nature of many people would be revealed in both a positive and negative sense.
How would you react to the presence of Jesus? Would perfect love be threatening to you? What would be revealed and laid bare? The answers to those questions lie in beginning this very day to walk the path of love — it is the only path to God’s kingdom.
Lord, may I always walk in light and love.

Reflection Holy Innocents
We may wonder how the massacre of the innocent male infants in Bethlehem fits in with the joy of the Christmas season. The event must have caused great suffering and anguish for the parents of the martyred babies. At the order of evil King Herod these male infants, innocent and defenseless, were killed: A cry is heard in Ramah; wailing and loud lamentation: Rachel weeps for her children. She refuses to be comforted, for they are no more.
We pray with the Church: "O God, whom the Holy Innocents confessed and proclaimed on this day, not by speaking but by dying, grant that the faith in you we confess with our lips may also speak through our manner of life." (Collect at Mass, Feast of the Holy Innocents)
Let us pray for children and that we be graced to become like them: "I assure you that unless you change and become like little children, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes lowly like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, and whoever received such a child in my name receives me." (Mt 18: 3–5) Let us pray for all victims of injustice and violence, especially involving children as we see in present-day wars and armed conflicts in the world. Let us especially pray for victims of injustice and violence against those still unborn.

Opening Prayer:
Lord, this is a difficult passage. Your ways can be hard to understand. Open my heart and my mind so I can hear your voice speaking to me through your word.

Encountering Christ:
1. Does It Sound Familiar?: The story of the flight into Egypt is not the first time in the Bible where God shows us what he is able to accomplish when human weakness and even sin come into the picture. Remember Joseph and the colored tunic story in the Old Testament? There are a few parallels between the two stories. Both stories ended in Egypt and both Josephs were led there by dreams. Both times their stay in Egypt was brought about by others’ sin. Joseph in the Old Testament was sold as a slave because his brothers were jealous. St. Joseph, in the New Testament story, led the Holy Family to Egypt because of Herod’s jealousy. As we think about how hard it must have been for the Holy Family to flee to an unknown land, we can remember that evil doesn’t have the last word in God’s plan. Divine Providence, in both cases, integrated mysterious human ways into the great story of salvation.
2. The Mystery of Human Freedom: The story of the flight to Egypt reminds us that nothing escapes God’s providence. Today’s Gospel passage mentions two prophecies that were fulfilled despite Herod’s evil choices. Ever since Adam and Eve fell into original sin, and all through salvation history, as illustrated in the Old Testament story of Joseph, God writes straight with crooked lines. We see this too in the crucifixion of Christ—out of the greatest evil ever imagined, God was able to bring about the greatest good: the salvation of all. So many questions rise in our human minds. Can someone’s evil act be God’s will at the same time? Why does God allow the innocent to die? When we bring our questions to God, we allow him to answer with his presence, to show us who he is—the Lord of life and history. He won’t necessarily unravel the mysteries we ponder, but he will infuse our souls with grace and peace as we allow his providence to become evident in our own life, in our own salvation history.
3. St. Joseph’s Obedience: Like St. Joseph’s obedience, our obedience many times involves responding in moments when things don’t seem to go according to God’s plan. We can imagine how difficult it might have been for St. Joseph. Did he wonder why God allowed his family to be in such danger? Or why so many children died at Herod’s hand? Many times we expect God’s plan to be free of evil. That expectation was dashed when Adam and Eve committed original sin. God reminds us that in this world we experience imperfection—other people’s and our own. The story of redemption teaches us that obedience to God’s will is not about making sure things are perfect. Obedience to God’s will is trusting that he will show us the way, as he showed St. Joseph. As Christians, we believe that God draws greater good from evil when we remain in him and let him lead.
Conversing with Christ:
Lord Jesus, I believe that nothing escapes your providential gaze. Help me believe that you draw good out of the evil I see around me and the things that have hurt me in the past. And if the mystery is too deep, or too painful to grasp in this moment, bring your peace to my soul so that I may heal through your divine power.
Resolution: Lord, today by your grace I will make an act of trust, remembering that you are with me and you will lead me through any difficulties or injustices that I experience.

Feast of the Holy Family (B) 2020 Every Child Is a Gift from God:

Feast of the Holy Family (B) 2020 Every Child Is a Gift from God:
The last couple of years, I went back to VN to visit my dad and my family. One evening my brother took me out to visit his in-laws. On the way to their house, we passed through a cemetery for the unborn outside of the busy city of Saigon. From the main road we could see rows and rows of little graves there. Through local people, we learned that one group of people in the city had seen many little aborted babies were dumped in the trash bins in local hospitals, so they came to pick them up and bring here to bury them. On the way home, I couldn’t stop thinking about how little humans were being treated.
In our society today, some people use the term Human dignity to promote the idea that everyone should be completely free to do whatever they feel like with their body. But, Human dignity doesn't mean that everyone should have unlimited freedom. Rather, it means that every single human being has an eternal, everlasting value, just because they exist. Because of this, we should organize our families, societies, and individual lives in a way that welcomes everyone and gives as many as possible a chance to live their lives to the fullness. And of course, that means having effective laws that protect the weak, promote justice, and minimize ethical pollution.
Today, in the middle of the Christmas season, as the Church turns our attention to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, the Holy Family, it is a good time to remind ourselves where this human dignity comes from and what it implies.
The First Reading gives us the answer. Abraham and Sarah were picked by God to be the ancestors of the ancient Israelites, God's Chosen People. God's action in their life reveals three key insights into human dignity.
The first key insight is that every child is a gift. Abraham and Sarah were childless. Only then did God fulfill his promise to give them a son when they are very old. This shows us that a child is a gift from God. Every human being has an everlasting soul created in the very image of God. This soul is different than the souls of plants, insects, or other animals. It's different because it is spiritual and personal, capable of self-knowledge, moral activity, and friendship with God. This is obvious if we just look at the world around us: human activity is very different than the activity of other animals.
Since the human soul is spiritual and personal, it is not just the product of natural processes. Rather, at the moment of conception, God intervenes directly, entrusting a new human person into the care of the mother and father. It's a combination of the natural process of procreation and a supernatural act of God. God's own breath symbolizes this supernatural element of the human soul. And so, in a real way, every child truly is a gift of God, just as Isaac was God's gift to Abraham and Sarah. This is also the great message of Christmas: Jesus became a baby himself in order to show us just how much God values every baby that he sends to earth.
The second key insight is, since every single child is a gift of God and has a spiritual, personal, and everlasting soul, every single human being has equal dignity; they deserve to be treated like people, not like things. This is why slavery, euthanasia or "mercy-death" is wrong, this is why artificial reproduction like In Vitro Fertilization or cloning is wrong because it treats human beings as if they were products, like things you buy at the store, instead of unique gifts from God with the same dignity as the parents.
This is also why it is no surprise that anti-Catholic political regimes always systematically engage in these practices. They promoted these evil acts because they have forgotten that every human being comes from God and is going to God. Only Jesus Christ has made it clear to the world that every human being, no matter how small or weak, is loved infinitely by God and ought to be treated as such.
The third key insight is about human dignity is the most exciting one. Since each one of us has been created directly by God, with the cooperation of our parents, each one of us has a unique mission to accompliBài Giảng Chúa Nhật Lễ Thánh Gia

When Abram and Sarai received God's promise to be the ancestors of his Chosen People, God actually changed their names to Abraham and Sarah, as a sign of their God-given mission.
In today's Gospel, we see the same thing happening. Simeon and Anna have spent their lives serving God, and now they are the only ones who recognize Jesus, and they start spreading the Good News that the Savior has come; this was their unique mission. Jesus himself, the model for every one of us, has the mission of redeeming the fallen human race. Every single one of us has a God-given mission; it came with being created. And God has given different sets of talents and gifts to equip each of us for our mission.
This mission is our unique way of knowing and loving God; our friendship with him is not generic, but personal, because God made us personal and unique. Pope Paul VI wrote in his Populorum progressio "In God's plan, every man is born to seek self-fulfillment, for every human life is called to some task by God" (Populorum progressio, #15)
For every one of us, this journey of discovery begins in the family. In the family we gradually learn the truth about who we are, who God is, who we are called to be, and how to use our gifts and talents responsibly.
This is why the Church is always defending the family, just as God designed it from the very beginning of history. God gives us our dignity as human beings, but the family teaches us to live in accordance with that dignity. So today, as we contemplate the Holy Family, let's thank the Lord for the great gift of human life and the immeasurable dignity he has bestowed upon it.
Let's thank him for the wise and beautiful design of the family, in which that life takes shape and grows to maturity. Let's thank him for his personal love for each one of us and promise that we will imitate that love in the way we live out our family lives. And let's ask him to show us all how to live our lives to the fullness and help as many others as possible do the same.sh in the world.

26th Dec St Stephen, Proto martyr
Isn’t it strange to see how the Church puts the commemoration of a saint’s death immediately after the celebration of our Lord’s birth? Some say that it is to remind us that joy and sorrow, the glory and the Cross can never be separated in the life of a Christian. This is true. As I meditate on the Word of God in today’s readings, He is telling me the same thing: that a Christian is one who is so willing to give his entire life just to embrace fully the greatest gift that God has given him — Jesus, “God with us.”
The Feast of Saint Stephen is always a great opportunity to remind us Christians to gaze once more on the Child lying in the manger of our hearts and ask ourselves, “Am I still willing to embrace this Holy Infant dwelling in me, even if it costs my entire life to do so?” For this is what it means to decrease so that Christ may increase in us. Father, let me experience how much You love me by not withholding from me Your most beloved Son, our Lord Jesus, so that I may embrace him fully, even if giving up my entire life is what it takes to have him.

Homily for Christmas Day Mass (December 25): Scripture: John 11-5, 9-14
"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us"
The day of your birth has come, Lord, and as I draw close to the manger, I join the angels’ hymn of praise: Glory to God in the highest. I praise you, Lord, for I believe you have made yourself so small, for love of me. I hope in the redemption you have come to give me, and in this moment of prayer, I bow my head and my heart before you to kiss your tiny baby brow. Let me open my heart to your love in this moment of prayer.
As you know our Vietnamese are very much influenced with Confucius and Buddhist. And I remember a story when I was a freshman in college. There is a student asked a Christian professor how Confucius and Buddha would differ from Christ. He responded with a story: “A woman fell into a deep hole with mud, she is trying as hard as she might to get out of the deep hole, but she could not climb out
- Confucius looked in. He told her, "Poor woman, if you had paid attention to me, you would not have fallen in there in the first place." Then he walked away.
- Buddha approached. He too spotted the woman. He said to himself, "If she can just manage to get out of that hole, I can give her genuine help." Then He continued his journey.
Along came Jesus. He spotted the woman. He was moved with pity. He jumped into the hole immediately to assist her out.
This story illustrates the Incarnation. We gather here to celebrate the concern of God for each of us.
In today’s Gospel, we may wonder, why does John the Evangelist begin his Gospel with a description of the Word of God and the creation of the universe and humankind?
Well, we may think John’s Gospel might be linked with the beginning of the first book of Genesis (John 1:1-3 and Genesis 1:1-3)? The “word of God” was a common expression among the Jews. God’s word in the Old Testament is an active, creative, and dynamic word. We can find it in the Psalm 33, 147 like. “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made” (Psalm 33:6). Or “He sends forth his commands to the earth; his word runs swiftly” (Psalm 147:15). In the book of Jeremiah chapter 23 wrote “Is not my word like fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer which breaks the rock in pieces” (Jeremiah 23:29)? In the Book of Wisdom chapter 9 also addressed God as the one who “made all things by your word” (Wisdom 9:1). God’s word is also equated with his wisdom like in the book of proverbs was written “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth” (Proverbs 3:19). The Book of Wisdom describes “wisdom” as God’s eternal, creative, and illuminating power. Both “word” and “wisdom” are seen as one and the same.
In chapter 18 Book of Wisdom wrote:“For while gentle silence enveloped all things, and night in its swift course was now half gone, your all-powerful word leaped from heaven, from the royal throne, into the midst of the land that was doomed, a stern warrior carrying the sharp sword of your authentic command” (Wisdom 18:14-16).
John describes Jesus as God’s creative, life-giving and light-giving word that has come to earth in human form as he wrote in his Gospel. “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Jesus is the wisdom and power of God which created the world and sustains it who assumed a human nature in order to accomplish our salvation in it. Jesus became truly man while remaining truly God. Jesus Christ is truly the Son of God who, without ceasing to be God and Lord, became a man and our brother.
The Word of God took human form and lived on earth. Many have seen His glory, His glory as of a Father's only Son, full of grace and truth. Through Jesus, we receive grace after grace. At first came the Law into the world through Moses. But now, grace and truth came into the world through Jesus Christ. While no one has ever seen God, it is Jesus who is God and who is close to the Father's heart, who has revealed God the Father to mankind.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, a Child was born for us. As you look at Baby Jesus in the manger, always remember that the fullness of God dwelled in Him. In Jesus was the fullness of the Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. [Col. 1:9, 2:9] Those who know Jesus, they also know the Father for they are One.
The mystery of Christmas tells us that through Jesus, God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit came into the world as One in bodily form. As we have heard during Advent, the Holy Spirit came upon the Blessed Virgin Mary at her moment of conception.
Jesus Himself told the people repeatedly that He was One with the Father, that the Father was in Him, and that those who have seen Him, have seen the Father. Through Jesus, the invisible Heavenly Father took physical form. Through Jesus, the Holy Spirit dwelled until Jesus commended His Spirit into the hands of the Father. [Lk. 23:46] Baby Jesus came into the world for each and every one of us, so that we may be saved. Christians never cease proclaiming anew the wonder of the Incarnation. The Son of God assumed a human nature in order to accomplish our salvation in it. The Son of God worked with human hands; he thought with a human mind. He acted with a human will, and with a human heart he loved. Born of the Virgin Mary, He has truly been made one of us, like to us in all things except sin (Gaudium et Spes). Through Jesus, our living faith that is manifested through the Sacraments of the Catholic Church leads us towards the Light of God and the truth as our assurance of salvation and eternal life in the Kingdom of God. If we are going to behold the glory of God we will do it through Jesus Christ. Jesus became the partaker of our humanity so we could be partakers of his divinity (2 Peter 1:4). When Jesus comes God is made known as the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. By our being united in Jesus, God becomes our Father and we become his children. Let’s give thanks to the Father for sending His only begotten Son to redeem us and to share with us His glory. And let us always be thankful to Jesus for manifesting to us the goodness and love of God.
